We travelled 480 kilometers down to Machala which is located on the coast to visit our daughter-in-laws parents celebrating their 35th. wedding anniversary.
Situated at sea level, Machala is very hot and humid as to be expected so close to the equator.
Our visit there was 4 days where we stayed in a downtown Hotel.
The photo below shows what a typical bedroom in a private home looks like. It's a "must" to sleep under mosquito netting because on the coast Dengue is commonly carried by the mosquitoes.
Every town in Ecuador has at it's city center a beautifully manicured park to enjoy.
A large church is usually a prominent edifice at one end of the park.
Machala is not a usual tourist destination, rather it's known for it's banana plantations and tuna industry exports.
Being a very religious country it is common to see devotional displays everywhere.
This one was next to the snack bar in the bus terminal.
