Cuenca - 3

Today we toured Cuenca.
For $5.00 you get a 2 hour double decker bus tour narrated in Spanish and English.

Beautiful South American hardwood throughout the bus.

A well manicured and tidy park in the city center.

It was in front of this church on this corner 5 days ago that our cab driver got his directions wrong and dropped us off. An uncomfortable feeling with 5 pieces of luggage not knowing where we were. After a few short minutes we were "rescued" by our hosts.

No shortage of fresh fruits and vegetables up here in the mountains.

How about a wheel barrow full of black sweet cherries?

Ecuador exports large amounts of cut flowers to the USA and Canada.

There are an abundance of open air markets where you can find beautiful floral arrangements, always in season.

A favourite treat for children, we see this being sold on the streets in every city and town we go to. At first glance it looks like ice cream but nope, it never melts.  It's a form of cake chiffon or icing.  It stays solid forever and the children wear it all over their faces.

The site-seeing bus took us up a mountain overlooking Cuenca.

Here you can see how large the city is. Actually the 3rd. largest city in Ecuador with a population of 505,632 of which their are approximately 4,000 Gringos.
